Genesee County
Law Enforcement Memorial

Our Mission

The Genesee County Law Enforcement Memorial (GCLEM) site was founded to recognize and honor the officers for their bravery, dedication, and sacrifices. This memorial will stand as a beacon of thanks to all who have served and to eulogize the brave officers of Genesee County who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Our Plan

Fallen officers and K9 will be recognized & remembered with their name, department, and date of their last watch engraved on a granite stone wall. All other officers will be honored with their information engraved on bricks creating pathways.

The total expected cost of the memorial is $50,000. This includes the construction of the memorial site, flag poles, granite wall, bronze plaques, bricks, fencing, landscaping, concrete foundation, and side walks (handicap accessible) at the site. We plan to cover these expenses by donations.

The next phase of the site will be the construction of the Gazebo. Eagle Scout Connor O’Neil (Boy Scout Troop 178 Davison, MI) has taken the memorial on as his Eagle Scout Service Project. Connor's gazebo will be a wonderful addition for visitors to sit and view the memorial.

Community Involvement

The founders of GCLEM have partnered with Gear Up Academy located in the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village in Flint. Students in the GearUp2Lead program will help contribute and maintain the memorial site.

Law enforcement will be on location when the students are present to build further relations with today's youth.

Once the memorial is complete the memorial site will be donated to the FOP Arrowhead Lodge 126 who will maintain the memorial for decades to come.

Location

GCLEM is located in the heart of Genesee County, near downtown Flint.
